What is slotcar?
Slotcar Racing became popular in Europe and America in the 1950s, but the "Golden Age" of slot cars, when enthusiasts worldwide started building tracks and organizing competitions, is considered to be the 1900s. Today, in addition to many individuals enjoying this sport as a hobby at home, competitive leagues hold fiercely organized events and races worldwide, aiming for records.
Race events are typically categorized by scale and may have national and international divisions. The International Slot Racing Association (ISRA) determines the divisions and the extensive rankings for drivers.
As of 2007, the world's number one driver is Vladimir Horky from Czechoslovakia.
The "Fray in Ferndale" event, held annually in California, boasts the highest visitor and participant attendance in the world. Since 1997, this yearly gathering has been hosting slot car hobbyists and serious racers from around the globe.
